Isolated Storms with Heavy Rain to Impact the Region Tonight
PADUCAH, KY — The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a hazardous weather outlook for southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western Kentucky, and southeast Missouri. Isolated to widely scattered storms are expected to pass through the region Friday night, bringing lightning and locally heavy rainfall as the primary hazards.
The affected areas include major cities such as Cape Girardeau, Paducah, Evansville, and Marion. Residents are advised to be cautious of sudden downpours, which could cause localized flooding, particularly in low-lying areas.
Weekend Weather Brings More Storms and Scorching Heat
As the weekend progresses, the NWS forecasts a continuation of storm chances through Saturday and Sunday. These storms are not anticipated to be severe, but they could still produce heavy rain and frequent lightning, posing a risk to outdoor activities.
Alongside the storms, another significant hazard looms in the form of triple-digit heat indices. Southeast Missouri, southern Illinois, and parts of western Kentucky are expected to experience oppressive heat on Saturday, with heat indices potentially climbing over 100°F. This extreme heat could cause heat-related illnesses for those exposed to prolonged outdoor activities.
