Man walking on K-66 in the lane of travel struck by car in Riverton

RIVERTON, Kan. (KOAM) – A Springfield, Mo. man who was cited earlier this week by a Missouri law enforcement agency for ” Pedestrian in the Roadway ” was struck by a car while walking on K-66.

The Cherokee County Kansas Sheriff’s office state late Tuesday night 11:15 p.m. E-911 were alerted to a pedestrian struck on K-66 near SE 69th.

The preliminary crash investigation conducted by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, indicates an eastbound 2007 Saturn passenger vehicle, driven by 65-year-old Ralph Brummett, of Alba Missouri, struck 25-year-old Steven Wahlers, of Springfield Missouri, who was walking in the lane of travel.

Wahlers, who was cited by a Missouri law enforcement agency on September 2nd, 2024, for being a pedestrian in the roadway.

Cherokee County Sheriff

Wahlers was transported by Cherokee County Emergency Medical Services to a Joplin area hospital suffering serious injuries. He was later transferred to a Springfield Hospital for a higher level of care.
