In 1955 Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) initiated the observance and in 1956 President Dwight Eisenhower signed it into law. Constitution Week is an annual commemoration of the living document that upholds and protects the freedoms central to our American way of life and a reminder of the American citizen’s responsibility to protect, defend and preserve the U.S. Constitution.
