City of Springfield to conduct signage sweep

City staff are conducting a sweep of major roads on Wednesday, September 16, removing signs that are within the public right-of-way.

“The City understands the desire for signage to promote small businesses or political affiliations, however, unregulated sign clutter leads to an unattractive community and signage in unapproved locations can lead to safety issues when placed in a driver’s field of vision,” said Public Works Assistant Director Eric Claussen in a press release.

The City will store the signs they collected at the Phil Broyles Complex on 111 W. Chestnut Expressway. — where people can go to collect their signs. Any signage not claimed by November 1 will be disposed of.
