MSU board considers new roof for performing arts hall, upgrades at Greenwood school

The Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts is due for a new roof and $1 million worth of interior renovations are planned for Greenwood Laboratory School.

Those projects are on the agenda for the Wednesday meeting of Missouri State University’s Board of Governors . It will start at 4 p.m. and take place over Zoom.

Putting a new roof on the performance hall is expected to cost up to $1.5 million.

The board will be asked to approve a $1.25 million proposal from Garland/DBS, Inc for the construction work involved.

This project includes replaces the existing roof with a modified bitumen built-up roofing system and a waterproofing layer with embedded gravel surfacing.

If approved, the work will be done by summer 2025. Nearly $1.2 million of the cost will come from the hall’s operations fund and the rest will come from the operating maintenance and repair budget.

At Greenwood, which is located on the Missouri State campus, the plan is for Bales Construction Company to renovate classrooms, offices and hallways in the oldest part of the laboratory school.
