National & Division intersection to close for almost 2 months

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The intersection of National Avenue and Division Street will close for approximately 45 days.

Last week’s Springfield restaurant health code violations, September 16-20

Starting on Monday, Oct. 7, the intersection will be under construction for railroad crossing and pavement improvements. The project should conclude by the week of Nov. 21, according to a press release from the City of Springfield.

“While coordinating closely with the BNSF railway, the City’s contractor and traffic engineers, we determined it’s just not feasible to keep traffic flowing through the intersection while conducting the railroad and concrete work needed for the project,” explained Public Works Project Manager Zach Butcher. “We have worked hard to minimize impacts as much as possible throughout the project and will continue working with area businesses and property owners to alleviate access impacts as we can.”

According to the press release, all businesses will remain open.
