A viral TikTok trend makes it way to the Ozarks

REPUBLIC, Mo. — A viral TikTok trend is taking social media by storm, and thousands are participating in it.

The trend is called “she deserves the purse.” It was created after a woman saw a purse lying next to a bunch of baby items in the store and assumed a mother decided to not buy the purse in order to purchase items for her baby.

Thousands of people have since decided to leave the money and notes inside of baby items for parents to find, which is what Jessica Pond from Republic found when she sent her husband to buy pull-ups.

“I opened the box and started taking the pull-ups out at the very bottom of the boxes. When I saw money wrapped with a note, it was taped, and I knew exactly what it was,” says Pond.

Pond is one of thousands of TikTok users who are familiar with the “she deserves the purse” trend. While she says it’s a nice movement to be a part of, she never thought she would be on the receiving end.

“I’ve seen this trend going viral on TikTok and I was like, ‘No way, this is crazy.’ I never would have thought, like, what are the chances?” Pond says. “So I was like, I need to record this because I haven’t seen anyone receive and take a video and share it. They have received this anonymous blessing. So I was like, I’m going to record this and share it with everyone so they can see what it’s like to receive it.”
