Two upcoming weekend walks to raise money for Alzheimer’s, Huntington’s disease

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Hundreds of walkers will lace up their shoes this weekend to raise money to battle Alzheimer’s and Huntington’s Disease.

Saturday, Sept. 28 at Jordan Valley Park (635 E. Trafficway St., Springfield)

According to a release from the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Missouri, more than 600 walkers across 115 teams will be wearing purple and sporting personalized shirts honoring loved ones. Registration for the walk starts at 7:30 a.m. and the opening program is scheduled for 8:45 a.m. The walk will begin immediately after.

The Midwest Chapter of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America (HDSA) is hosting this event, which helps support HDSA’s mission to improve the lives of people affected by this disease.

Registration for the walk opens at 11:30 a.m., with the event starting at 12 p.m.

A press release from HDSA says Team Hope is the organization’s largest fundraising event, which takes place in over 100 cities across the country. Since it’s inception in 2007, Team Hope has raised more than $28 million for Huntington’s Disease (HD).
