Three injured in overnight accident on Campbell Avenue

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — An accident involving three vehicles on South Campbell Avenue near James River Freeway sent three people to the hospital overnight Saturday, according to Springfield police.

SPD says just after 2:30 a.m. Saturday, a Ford Expedition was attempting to turn left onto James River Freeway from southbound Campbell Avenue when it was struck by a northbound Subaru that ran a red light. Two occupants of the Ford Expedition were ejected from the vehicle.

Crash on Chestnut & Patterson results in an injury

Shortly afterward, a Chevy Equinox traveling north on Campbell Avenue struck one of the occupants who was lying on the road. The driver of the Chevy Equinox was later taken into custody for DWI.

Police say three people in total were taken to a local hospital with moderate, non-life-threatening injuries.
