Initially Darien Urban and Shalene Ehlers, decided to trade the 2-month old baby for a 6-pack of beer. Then they decided they wanted $1,000. Which would be payable a few days later.

The mother, Ehlers, told witnesses with three dogs and a baby, it was not working. So that’s why they were arranging the adoption.

The parents wrote a letter for the reporting person giving them custody of the baby. After taking the baby back to their residence at the trailer park they discovered the infant was in need of medical attention. EMS transported the baby to Children’s Hospital.
