Community Focus Report released, here’s what they’ve found

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A group of community leaders in Springfield today released the 20th community focus report.
The annual report sorts societal factors into two categories — blue ribbons for issues where Springfield is excelling and red flags for areas where the community is struggling.

Some of the blue-ribbon topics include economic growth, graduation rates and decreasing overdose deaths.

Some of the red flag topics highlighted include traffic safety, obesity and a lack of safe, affordable housing.

“This work, from the past through today, has provided rich conversations for our community and opportunities to explore what we do well and where we must improve,” Dr. Jonathan Groves, chair of Drury University’s Communication Department, and Lynne Meyerkord, a member of the CFO Board of Directors, wrote in the 2024 report’s introduction. “We thank the dozens of volunteers who have put their stamp on this community endeavor with their commitment and dedication.”
