Thursday, October 10 weather – All-time October heat records should fall Saturday

Happy Thursday!

For the next few days, the Ozarks will continue to be calm, dry, and warm. Thursday will creep back into the 80s, but we will have very low humidity.

On Saturday, we have forecasted 90°, which will not only set a record for October 12th, it will also set a record as the latest 90° temperature ever recorded in Springfield.

By Sunday, a cold front starts to move into the Ozarks. Temperatures will tumble into the 60’s, making it feel much more like fall. Despite the frontal passage, we will be staying dry.

While we have really calm weather, here is something to look forward to, the Northern Lights! We could see the Aurora as far south as the Ozarks on Thursday night. With clear conditions, it’ll be a great time to check it out.

NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center has issued a G4 Geomagnetic Storm Watch. A watch of this magnitude is severe and could cause radio blackouts.
