Springfield man sentenced for stealing air conditioners

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The second of two men accused of stealing air conditioning units from local businesses has been sentenced.

Online court documents show Jeffrey Clay Brockman was sentenced to five years for each of 14 counts of felony stealing for a total of 70 years. The judge ordered the sentences to be served concurrently, so Brockman will spend five years in prison.

Brockman’s co-defendant in this case, Brandin Lee Hylton, was sentenced in January 2024 . He was charged with eight counts of felony stealing and ordered to serve four years in prison.

A probable cause statement from the Springfield Police Department says Hylton and Brockman worked together to steal the AC units. Police were able to identify both in surveillance video from several locations.

Both Brockman and Hylton admitted to the thefts , which occurred between late July and mid-August 2023.
