SPRINGFIELD–This week’s Athlete of the Week is the United Springfield Academy 2008 Girls Club Soccer team.
The team is coached by Alex Stein and Anthony Grant, and is comprised of 16 girls, ages 14-17, from Nixa, Logan-Rogersville, Glendale, Greenwood, and Central.
This past Sunday, for the second year in-a-row, they played in the Missouri Youth Soccer Association 17U State Cup Championship. But this time, they won it.
It’s the first time a local girls Springfield area team won a State Cup title since the early 2000s.
Once again, congrats to the United Springfield Academy 2008 Girls Club Soccer team.
