Monday, October 21 forecast: We need rain

Happy Monday! Today will be a warm late October day with temperatures climbing into the low 80s this afternoon. The skies will be clear and the air will be dry. Winds will also be out of the south around 10 to 15 mph leading to an elevated fire risk this afternoon.

As stated in the headline, we need rain. The chance this week is low overall, but there are a few opportunities for SOME rain. A weakening line of rain and thunderstorms coming out of Kansas will bring scattered very light rain or sprinkles to western Missouri where the highest totals will be just a couple hundredths of an inch. That’s not very helpful…

Another chance for scattered rain looks possible on Wednesday night and on Thursday night as a couple of cold fronts breach the region. Like tonight, these rain chances will be largely unhelpful, but count yourself lucky if you see any rain.

Temperature-wise, we will be warm in the low 80s through Thursday. A weak short-lived cold front will pass through on Wednesday night with minimal impacts on Thursday. A second front will pass through late Thursday into Friday. This front will help cool us off to the low 70s at the end of this week.
