Continuous Green T intersection debuts Thursday

GREENE COUNTY, Mo. — Starting Thursday at 5 a.m. the first Continuous Green T intersection in MoDOT’s Southwest District will be open, at Highway 160 and AA.

Here’s how it works.

Northbound traffic on 160 will not be affected. In fact, that traffic will never stop.

If you’re heading southbound on 160, there will still be a traffic light at AA/Guin Road, but drivers will only be able to turn right onto AA/Guin Road.

Turning left from 160 to eastbound AA/Guin road is no longer an option.

“Folks that are wanting to access [eastbound] Guin road will be able to drive down to CC and make a U-turn or go north up to the farm road,” Jason Evenden with MoDOT said.

You can still turn westbound to AA/Guin from northbound 160.

Drivers on AA/Guin can turn onto 160, with the help of a traffic light, which will eventually have drivers on a merge lane, similar to a highway on-ramp, and they’ll merge with northbound 160 traffic further down the road.

Evenden says there’s a similar style of intersection in Kansas City, but believes this will help commutes while also helping reduce crash rates.
