Days are getting shorter, and it is feeling more like fall by the minute. As students around the Ozarks continue to work hard in anticipation of Thanksgiving break, it is time to recognize our newest round of nominees for Student of the Week.
Student of the Week is an initiative by the News-Leader to highlight the academic achievements of local area high school students. Local high school students who have shown outstanding academic achievement and shown their involvement in the community were nominated by leaders at school districts in the area.
Voting is open until 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 14. Cast a vote for this round’s student of the week by visiting the poll below the nominees. You can submit one vote per hour.
The selected student will be announced Friday.
The Nov. 11 nominees are …
Adesola Fasipe, The Summit Preparatory School : With special talent in discus and shot put, Adesola excels in MSHSAA track and field events and competed at the state track meet this past spring in discus. Beyond athletics, Adesola is also a deep thinker and an avid reader — someone who constantly pushes herself to explore new ideas and think beyond the lessons in the classroom.
