SPRINGFIELD/REPUBLIC, Mo. – Convoy of Hope is staying busy these days and things are only getting busier. As the nonprofit works to provide relief to those suffering from catastrophes and hunger worldwide, it’s embarking on a new building project to help it meet its mission.
Convoy of Hope National Spokesperson and Vice President of Public Engagement, Ethan Forhetz, explained, “It’s going to be a place where we’re able to put together package meals that we can send all across the United States and really all around the world to be able to feed children, to be able to feed families who are experiencing tough times.”
The agency moved into its World Distribution Center near James River Freeway and Route MM in 2021. Then, last year, it opened phase two which entailed its Global Headquarters and Training Center. Now, the organization is moving forward on yet another project, which will be a 50,000-square-foot food manufacturing plant.
Forhetz explained, “It’s going to allow us to create and package millions of meals that we’ll be able to send to families all across this country and around the world and help.” He added, “As we got more serious about feeding 1 million children every school day around the world by 2030, we started doing the research into it to see how we’re going to do that.”
