Taste of the Ozarks: Cinnamon Roll Snowflakes

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Here’s a sweet treat that’s perfect for Christmas morning. Cut loaf of bread dough into four equal-sized pieces. On a floured surface, roll each piece of dough into a flat circle about the size of a dinner plate. Place the first piece of dough onto a lined cookie sheet. Add a third of the melted butter. In a bowl mix together white sugar, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Pour about 2/3 of a cup of the sugar mixture onto melted butter on the dough and spread out. Repeat this process layering two more times. Add the top layer of dough. Place a small cup or small cookie cutter of choice in the center of the dough. Then cut the outside edges of the dough into 16 equal strips. Grasp two adjacent strips twist the strips toward each twice. Pinch the outside edge to make the section of a snowflake. Repeat all the way around until all the strips are twisted towards another dough strip. Place in a preheated 350° oven for about 20 to 25 minutes or until Cinnamon Roll Snowflake is golden brown. In a medium size bowl, whip together cream cheese and the juice of a lemon until completely combined. Add a half cup at a time of the powdered sugar until frosting mixture is whipped to creamy consistency. Once snowflake has been allowed to cool to a manageable temperature, remove it from the lined pan and place it on a serving dish. Add icing when ready to serve. Recipe serves.
