The heaviest of the snow today will be near I-70 where several inches are possible. Snowfall of 2-4″ remains possible in Central Missouri once we transition from freezing rain to snow this afternoon/evening. A dusting to 2″ is still possible near Springfield this evening.
Ice accumulation will be highest northeast of Springfield past the Ozarks Plateau. Ice amounts of 0.25″ to 0.50″ will be widespread in this zone with isolated amounts higher than 0.50″. As of 7 AM Sunday, the roads are not accumulating ice but will begin to get slick as the day progresses.
We shut off the winter mess tonight with a light dusting of snow areawide into Monday morning… Then we get very cold. Temperatures will be in the teens on Monday morning.
This means any wet surface will become an icy surface, including the roads. Monday morning drivers across the Ozarks will need to use caution. The highest travel impacts will be felt where ice accumulation is heaviest northeast of Springfield.
