(KOAM) — A man brings a gun into the Aurora Police Department, authorities investigate a structure fire, and information about local warming centers.

AURORA, Mo. — Police in Aurora, Missouri averted what could have been a deadly situation Sunday night.

Authorities say a man entered the lobby of the Aurora Police and Fire facility, armed with a handgun and threatening to shoot himself.

Police were able to subdue him with a taser.

There is no word yet on formal charges.

KENDRICKTOWN, Mo. — Authorities are investigating the cause of an early morning structure fire in Kendricktown, Missouri.

Crews found smoke and flames coming from a large commercial building that used to be a semi-truck wash.

Carthage fire confirms that a man tried to put out the fire before firefighters arrived and suffered burns to his head.

He was taken to a Joplin hospital.
