Parkview’s Freeman leads UIC Flames over Bears

SPRINGFIELD, Mo–A local kid comes home and helps the Flames burn the Bears.

That’s the last thing that Missouri State coach Cuonzo Martin wanted to see as his Bears still search for their first Valley win.

MoState faced Illinois-Chicago with an 0-4 conference mark.

In our Bear Nation report, Tyem Freeman played his high school ball at Parkview.

And has battled back from injury and is playing his final season at Illinois-Chicago.

Missouri State started hot, inside to Wesley Oba for the dunk, it’s 11-3 Bears.

But the Flames would storm back, Freeman with the stop and pop three, it’s a four point deficit.

Then the former Viking swings it inside to Ethan Pickett for the reverse lay up, and Chicago was in front 17-16.

Zaxton King was trying to keep MoState within striking distance, the hoop and the foul, three of his 17 points on the night, it’s 36-27 Chicago at the half.

Second half, more Freeman, he’s wide open and knocks down this three pointer, it’s a 17 point Flames lead.

Later Freeman drives to the rack, and gets the hoop.
