Snow likely to come through the Ozarks in varying amounts Thursday and Friday: NWS

Snow is likely to come through the Ozarks area on Thursday and Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Springfield , thanks to another weather system.

Thursday evening is when the most snow is expected, according to Steve Lindenberg, NWS Springfield’s lead forecaster, and folks can expect 2 to 4 inches. Given that the snow is developing in bands, there could be large variation across short distances.

“Most of (the snow) will come Thursday night into Friday, in non-sunlight hours, so there’s a better chance of it staying on the ground,” Lindenberg said. People should be careful while traveling.

With this specific system and the temperature, people should only see snow.

“This one is going to be all snow, which rarely happens over our area,” Lindenberg said.

Despite the snow, the weather is expected to warm up slightly going into the weekend, with highs in the 30s and 40s possible, according to the NWS.
