Missouri and Kansas Winter Advisory: Ice Accumulations to Impact Travel Until 6 PM

Kansas City, MO – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for parts of Kansas and Missouri until 6 p.m. Wednesday as freezing rain and drizzle create hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Kansas City/Pleasant Hill, additional ice accumulations of up to one-tenth of an inch are expected in affected areas, including Kansas City, St. Joseph, and Overland Park. Northeast Kansas and central to northwestern Missouri are under the advisory.

Residents should prepare for slippery roads, particularly during the morning and evening commutes. Ice-covered sidewalks and bridges may also create dangerous conditions. Power outages are possible in areas where ice builds up on power lines…
