It was six months ago when Jim Roberts first noticed his water turning orange.
His farm, which is located between St. Clair and Union near Moselle, is divided to the south by a spring-fed creek, the same creek his family plays in and his livestock drink from. Roberts waters the garden crops he sells at farmers’ markets from that creek — or he used to, before he noticed a rust-colored film swirling around the edges.
