The ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Team is tracking the potential of a winter storm bringing travel impacts for most of Wednesday and into Thursday morning as accumulating snow moves in by mid-week. A Winter Storm Watch was issued Sunday night, including points from Macon to Boonville, west to Brunswick and Sedalia. An ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day will likely go into effect Wednesday morning through Wednesday night.
Low pressure is expected to track to our south into the Ohio Valley, leaving Mid-Missouri on the colder side of the system. With more than 48 hours before the storm arrives, subtle shifts may still happen that could impact snow totals in a few areas.
Snow is expected to begin before sunrise across eastern Kansas and western Missouri, arriving into the Highway 65 corridor early Wednesday morning, spreading east throughout the day. Areas along and north of I-70 will see the higher end of snowfall ranges, while locations near the Lake of the Ozarks and along I-44 could see snow totals cut down by sleet mixing in as temperatures will be closer to freezing the farther south you go.
Areas from about Marshall up to Moberly will be in a 5-7″ zone, while points from Boonville to Columbia to Fulton will be in the 3-6″ range. Jefferson City will likely fall in the middle of that range. Near the Lake area can expect 1-3″ of snow with some sleet mixed in…
