On Your Side: Springfield woman shares close call with jury duty scam to warn others

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Scammers are using jury duty as a new way to trick people out of their money. But one Springfield woman is fighting back.

”I’m calling in regard to a very urgent legal matter,” a voicemail message describes. “This is Lieutenant James with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.”

Alicia Prugger recently received a call from scammers claiming to be with Greene County law enforcement. The scammers used real names and official titles to sound convincing, telling Prugger she had missed jury duty and owed fines…
