ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – The Missouri Department of Transportation officially broke ground Wednesday on the next phase of its Improve I-70 program — a major project expanding the interstate from Warrenton to Wentzville.
State and local leaders, along with the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission and the contractor team, gathered at the closed eastbound I-70 weigh station in Foristell for the ceremony. “This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to bring transformative improvements to communities along I-70 and the entire state,” said Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission Vice-Chairman W. Dustin Boatwright.
Funded by Missouri’s FY2024 budget, the project is part of a $2.8 billion investment to add a third lane in each direction along nearly 200 miles of I-70. The Warrenton-to-Wentzville stretch is the largest single contract in MoDOT history at $600 million…
