SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Drury won their fifth straight and won for the 12th time in their last 14 games with a 6-0 win over Northeastern State on Sunday at Mark Worley Field at Meador Park in Springfield.
The win completed a four-game series sweep of the RiverHawks after Drury won the first three games at Northeastern State and played the final game of the series in Springfield. The Panthers improved to 16-11 and dropped the RiverHawks to 10-16. Four Drury pitchers combined to shut out Northeastern State and hold the RiverHawks to seven hits, with none of them going for extra bases. Wes Laaker (3-2) got the win as Drury’s starter went five innings and allowed no runs on three hits with one walk and three strikeouts.Zach McKinnis, Nick Panagos, and Luc Fuller teamed up to preserve the shutout.
The Panthers offense took advantage of six walks and six hit batters surrendered by RiverHawks pitching. Drury scored four runs in the bottom of the third with only one hit.
