ST. LOUIS — A south St. Louis County Catholic elementary school said it will have to close its doors after 65 years due to declining enrollment.
St. Louis Archbishop Reverend Mitchell T. Rozanski said that there are only 70 students who have enrolled at St. Simon School for the 2025-26 school year, including one grade level with only three students enrolled and another grade level in which only a single student is enrolled.
“This ongoing trend means that continuing to provide quality education at St. Simon School would require financial support that would negatively impact the parish’s finances and impede other crucial ministries,” Rozanski said in a statement issued to the public.
