Native plant sale coming to Springfield Nature Center

SPRINGFIELD — The first weekend in April, you spruce up your home or garden at the event held by the Missouri Department of Conservation.

April 5, the sale will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Springfield Nature Center at 4601 S. Nature Center Way. According to the MDC, a variety of native plants from local businesses will be available for purchase. There will also be ways for visitors to learn some tips about caring for them for the upcoming spring season.

Native plants have a tendency to adapt to their environment, and not be as reliant on pesticides and frequent watering. They contribute to the habitat for animals that live in the region such as insects, birds, and other mammals…
