SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – A Springfield father is speaking out after learning police in Illinois arrested one of the people accused of killing his son in November 2023.
Chaviz Nguyen, 26, was shot and killed on November 14, 2023, and his pregnant fiancée was also shot and injured that evening. The couple was driving near Campbell Avenue and College Street when police say another car, filled with five people, pulled up beside theirs and shot at them. Nguyen died at the scene. His fiancée was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Since then, police have arrested Timothy Hester, Elysha Bedell, and Cesar Belanos. All three are already charged with murder and are in jail.
