We knew that Sunday would be a stormy day in Missouri, but very few expected the wind speeds that have now been confirmed. There were at least 5 Missouri locations that were impacted by nearly hurricane-force winds Sunday.
As severe storms blew up across Missouri Sunday afternoon, NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center reports began to confirm that terrible winds were creating damage across the state. Many of these locations had massive power outages with some downed trees damaging homes. In case you’re not familiar, sustained wind speeds of 75 mph or greater are considered hurricane-strength.

Dallas County, Missouri – 70 mph winds
McDonald, Missouri – 68 mph winds
Jefferson City, Missouri – 66 mph winds
