CU: 13,700 without power Thursday morning

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — As of 4 a.m. on Thursday morning, City Utilities is reporting an updated total of outages for its customers.

Around 13,700 people remain in the dark this morning (May 1st), with the vast majority of those being in the northwest area of Springfield. At the peak of the outages on Tuesday, there were approximately 50,000 people without power in Springfield.

On Wednesday morning at 4 a.m., City Utilities reported approximately 28,100 outages—meaning that in the last 24 hours, CU was able to restore power to approximately 14,400 customers. The company says about 300 linemen worked through the day and night on Wednesday…
