SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – After 20 years of discussion and delays, the REAL ID law goes into effect Wednesday for military bases, nuclear power plants, and commercial air travel.
Those without a REAL ID can still fly, but they will be given a red warning urging them to get one as soon as possible, something a recent traveler agrees with.
“I knew it was coming,” Stuart Raney said. “Five years in the making, and I put it off for about five years. Long story short, I went to the DMV, and I probably spent about four and a half hours because I didn’t make an appointment. Everyone was on the same page as me, waiting until the last minute to get their REAL IDs.”…
