Missouri Weather Alert: Dense Fog and Thunderstorms Hit Springfield Area This Afternoon

Springfield, Mo. – Drivers across southwest Missouri are waking up to dense fog Thursday morning, with visibility dipping below a quarter mile in some areas and scattered thunderstorms expected to follow by mid-afternoon. The fog is causing slowdowns on major routes, including I-44 and U.S. Highway 60.

According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, the region will see temperatures between 67 and 73 degrees, with a 30–75% chance of showers and storms developing after noon. The strongest cells may produce brief downpours and lightning, mainly in central and southern counties.
