Seymour man arrested after fleeing into the woods from police

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Mo. — A Seymour man was arrested after fleeing from police due to a warrant for allegedly stealing a car.

According to a press release from the Douglas County Sheriff, Steven Atteberry, 43, is facing charges of stealing a car and potentially fleeing arrest, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On May 7, Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence on Z Highway for a report of a stolen vehicle and a subject with an outstanding warrant. Atteberry fled the residence on foot into the woods, according to the release.

A drone and K9 unit were deployed, and Atteberry was found hiding under a cedar tree. He was allegedly found to have methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia on his person…
