SPS students get behind-the-scenes look at career options, from fingerprints to first aid

Springfield middle-schooler Tatyana Rucker is getting a behind-the-scenes look at careers in the world of health care and forensic science.

In just the first two weeks, the 11-year-old learned the basics of first aid and CPR, participated in a mock “code blue,” dusted for fingerprints, ran a test to determine blood type, watched pig lungs inflate and deflate, and much more.

She was also part of a demonstration June 12 by the CoxHealth K9 safety and security team that showed how four-legged officers Hugo and Ackley conduct explosive, area and building services or help take down suspects…
