Heat index to reach triple digits, no relief in sight

If you’re not a fan of the heat, I’ve got some bad news—there’s no immediate sign of this heat wave easing up. We’ve already seen back-to-back days with highs in the 90s, and even more are on the way.

Sunday’s forecast is similar to Saturday’s: sunny, humid, and hot. Morning temperatures will start in the 70s before climbing back into the 90s by the afternoon.

A strong summer ridge is settling in across the region, effectively locking this heat in place. Expect the heat and humidity to remain consistent through the week, with daily highs near or above the 90-degree mark and a heat index approaching 100.

Rain isn’t completely off the table, but it’s not likely. With such a humid air mass in place, a stray shower or two could pop up during the workweek, with most areas will stay dry.

That dry stretch will give our saturated soils a chance to recover. However, if the hot and dry pattern continues into July, we could begin to see drought conditions reemerge across the Ozarks.

Make sure to stay cool and find a fun way to beat the heat this week!…
