We dodged the 90s on Thursday, breaking a six-day stretch that began the first day of summer last Friday. 90° will be elusive again today and through the weekend as the heat dome shrinks to the southeast, opening the door for afternoon rain chances.
Rain and storms during the afternoons, especially won’t be widespread on either Saturday or Sunday. However, if you’ve got some outdoor activities planned, just keep an eye on the sky and be ready to head indoors if a storm rolls in.
The pattern won’t change much as we get back to work after the weekend, as a dip in the jet stream sends a cool front through the Ozarks Monday.
The cold front will bring more rain and more 80s to the Ozarks on Monday. The front will help reduce the humidity a little, but it’s not completely going away. The dip in the dew points will allow temperatures at night to slip below 70°.
Looking ahead to Independence Day, we’ll find a typical July day with temperatures near 90°. The summer muggies will also have returned by then. Rain chances are overall low on Friday, but scattered showers and storms are possible in the afternoon…
