Embezzlement by Strafford woman forces closure of longtime florist

A Strafford woman has been sentenced in federal court for embezzling nearly $296,000 through unauthorized use of a company credit card over a span of several years.

Kayellen Faye Inskip, 47, received a sentence of 36 months in federal prison without the possibility of parole, followed by three years of supervised release. U.S. District Judge M. Douglas Harpool handed down the sentence, which included an order for Inskip to pay $295,771.91 in restitution, the full amount determined as the financial loss caused by her actions.

Inskip pleaded guilty on Oct. 10, 2024, to one count of access device fraud. Court documents indicate she misused a corporate credit card issued by her employer, Mears Floral, to make extensive personal purchases between Aug. 31, 2021, and Aug. 25, 2022.
