Hopefully, you were able to take advantage of calm weather and light off those fireworks, as most areas managed to stay dry for both the 4th and 5th of July. If you’re hoping for another nice day for Sunday, it’s looking rather unlikely as rain makes a return.
Scattered showers will be possible during the morning hours, with temperatures hovering in the 70s. By the afternoon, skies will begin to darken as rain spreads back into the region.
The atmospheric setup for Sunday supports the development of slow-moving thunderstorms. The main concerns will be lightning and localized flooding. Wind gusts may reach 40–50 mph, but due to weak upper-level winds, the risk of severe weather remains low.
Rain chances will linger into the evening before tapering off overnight. Keep your umbrella close this week, as we’ll be dealing with near-daily chances of showers and storms.
The jet stream is settling into a zonal, unsettled pattern, allowing waves of moisture to move across the Ozarks. While no single day looks like a complete washout, periods of rain will be common.
By the end of the week, most areas will likely pick up 1–2 inches of rain, with localized spots seeing even higher totals.
The silver lining? This soggy pattern will help keep high temperatures relatively cool for July. Most days will top out in the upper 80s, helping us dodge any major summer heatwaves. Well, at least for now…
