On Your Side: No, an FTC agent is not calling you

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) -It starts with a phone call that appears to be from your bank. There’s a problem, and your money is at risk.

Crooks will use caller ID spoofing, mimicking a number you might recognize. If you answer, it goes downhill from there. They’ll tell you they’re a Federal Trade Commission agent and discovered someone stole your Social Security number. The only way to secure your money is to send it somewhere else.
