Hottest day yet, set to go higher

We’re getting to that stretch of the summer that tends to offer up the hottest temperatures of the year. And, right on cue, that’s where we find ourselves.

Springfield’s high of 94° is the warmest reading measured for Springfield since mid-September of last year.

Our current heatwave is producing the hottest temperatures of the summer so far, but it’s not as bad as it could be.

A wet spring and summer have made for vibrant fields of grass. Trees are looking good too. And, the ground is still fairly moist. This all plays into the sun’s ability to heat the air above, and our current setup is hindering highs a bit. If things are allowed to dry out, it will be easier for temperatures to soar to higher levels…
