Springfield man sentenced for illegal firearm possession

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A man from Springfield was recently sentenced in federal court for illegally possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.

A U.S. District Judge sentenced Joseph Archer III, 43, to 8 years in federal prison without parole on Wednesday, July 23.

Archer pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm on Oct. 29, 2024. He was previously convicted of felony conspiracy to distribute cocaine and possession of a firearm during a drug trafficking crime.
