Woman asked 911 how to get a burn permit an hour before setting family home ablaze to keep siblings from cashing in on the sale: Cops

A Missouri woman confessed to starting a fire at a family home so that her sibling wouldn’t make money from its eventual sale, authorities say — and an hour before allegedly lighting the blaze, she is said to have called 911 inquiring about how to acquire a burn permit for the house.

Cheryl Gibson is in the Greene County Jail on a charge of second-degree arson. A probable cause statement from the Springfield Fire Department provides details into authorities’ investigation.

On Monday, Gibson was “involved in a family dispute” with an unnamed sibling concerning “their late father’s residence” at an undisclosed address in Springfield. The court document states both people “have a financial interest in the property”…
