Section of Mt. Vernon Street to close for six weeks

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Mt. Vernon Street will be temporarily closed between Lulwood and Miller Avenue starting Aug. 11, according to the City of Springfield.

The closure is for the City’s Mt. Vernon and Miller Sidewalk Improvement Project. The section is expected to be closed for around six weeks and reopen in late September.

As part of the improvement project, the City of Springfield says new sidewalk segments will be installed to connect Mt. Vernon St. and Miller Ave. for pedestrian safety and connectivity to nearby schools and residential areas. Additional infrastructure improvements for stormwater drainage, sanitary sewer and gas/water lines are also included in the project…
