SPRINGFIELD–The 96th Annual Horton Smith Cup is coming back where it belongs, as Team Springfield beat Team Joplin 11-7 to bring home the historic trophy, and bragging rights.
After winning all six best-ball matches, on Saturday, to enjoy a 6-0 cushion heading into Sunday’s single matches, the heavy favorites didn’t let their big lead go to their head. Instead, Hong Jung, Ben Tummons, Derek Reynolds, Todd Laney, and Ozarks First very own, Chris Lambert won their one-on-one matches at Bill and Payne Stewart to seal the victory.
Next year, the battle for the cup will return to Joplin, but for now, to the victor go the spoils…
