Kansas Expressway reopens after multi-vehicle crash near Walnut Lawn

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of Walnut Lawn and Kansas Expressway had traffic backed up on Monday morning.

According to the Springfield Police Department, MoDOT crews were working to fix the traffic lights at Kansas and Walnut Lawn, which were flashing red in all directions. While traffic was stopped, a northbound pickup truck struck the back of a vehicle, leading to a chain reaction of six vehicles crashing.

Two drivers were sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No one else in the crash reported injuries.

Northbound Kansas Expressway and the left turn lane were closed, according to Ozarks Traffic, but those lanes have since reopened. The traffic lights at the intersection have also been fixed. Police officers are still working to clear the scene…
