Springfield Lutheran High School readies for inaugural year

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Schools across the Ozarks are preparing for students, including private and religious schools. One of those schools in Springfield is entering its inaugural year with its first class of freshmen starting today.

Springfield Lutheran High School (SLHS) hosted a ribbon-cutting on Wednesday, commemorating the start of its first year of instruction.

This is the first Lutheran High School in Springfield. The closest Lutheran High School without SHLS is in Joplin. Executive Director Stephanie Grandestaff says this school fills a need for pre-K through 8th-grade students at Springfield Lutheran School who want to continue their education with a Lutheran background.
